Constituency Elects new committee

DA Kempton Park - Edenvale Constituency Elects New Committee

The Kempton Park – Edenvale constituency of the Democratic Alliance held their AGM on 1 September 2008 and re-elected largely the same committee as had taken them through a highly successful year since their crime summit held on 13 October 2007.

Graham Gersbach was re-elected as chairperson and reported back on what was a highly successful year. The constituency has 4 functional branches in Edenvale (wards 18 and 19 – John Anticevich is the newly elected chair), Kempton Park (wards 13, 15 and 16 - Chair – Johann Jordaan), TRACI (ward 17 – Chair – Sid Clarke) and Phomolong ( ward 12 and part of ward 13 – Chair – Ivan Thoka).

Other elected committee members were Andre Hunter (Finance), Ella Pieterse assisted by Christinah Maleka (Phomolong) and Heather Hart (Edenvale) (Women’s Network – DAWN), Jentina Doubell (Fundraising), John Anticevich ( Co-ordination), Rika Hunter (Strategy and Campaigns), Charine Jordaan assisted by Zolile Miya (DA Youth), Annemarie van der Merwe (secretary), Barbara-Anne Harrison (Media), Allan Sauls (Political Education), Ivan Thoka (LEAD – expansion) and Joey Roos (Databases & Membership Expansion).

Gersbach pointed out that the constituency is one of the most active DA constituencies in Ekurhuleni with regular community interaction and members of the Constituency serve on the DA’s Regional Management, Regional Executive, Provincial Executive and Federal (National) Council.
